Toronto, Ontario – Today, the US-based Cicerone® Certification Program announced its plan to serve the Canadian market more deeply by hiring Beer Sisters Inc., to represent the program in Canada. Founded by Advanced Cicerone® Crystal Luxmore and Certified Cicerone® Tara Luxmore, the duo will represent and market the program across the country and act as the first point of contact for Canadian beer professionals wishing to progress through the program.
“Canadians have been taking Cicerone exams since our launch in 2008 and support for the program continues to grow,” said Ray Daniels, Founder and Director of Cicerone. “The Beer Sisters will help to sustain that momentum while improving our support for Canadian beverage professionals.”
The roll-out of the Canadian program will include the launch of a bi-monthly e-newsletter just for Canadians in February, more BeerSavvy® Bootcamps and Off-Flavour Training Classes in major cities, representation at major brewing conferences including the Alberta Craft Brewers’ Convention March 13-14, and the Canadian Brewing Awards & Conference in Halifax May 24-26. Plus, a Facebook Study Group for Canadians where those wishing to achieve any of the four professional certifications can ask questions and share study tips and resources.
Last year Tara passed her Certified Cicerone exam, and last month, Crystal received news that she passed her Advanced exam, which she sat last November.
“Having studied on our own and with colleagues for the exams, we know the challenges and have seen the knowledge and career rewards that come with achieving this globally-recognized certification,” says Tara, “so we’re really excited to help others progress through the program in our own backyard.”
Beer Sisters Inc., is excited to grow the program on a part-time basis, and will continue to run their consulting company, where they write about beer and cider for major publications, educate consumers and lead guided tastings for corporations and festivals across North America.
