Toronto, Ontario – Henderson Brewing Co. is throwing a day-long Open House at
the brewery, located at 128A Sterling road. Earth Day and Record Store Day both fall on
Saturday, April 22 in 2017, so they’re partnering with with The Drake Commissary, Anansi
Press, Playa Cabana, Dead Dog Records, Viryl Technologies, Arts & Crafts, daniel greaves of
the Watchmen, and Dave Rave of Teenage Head to celebrate all things Earth Day and Record
Store Day, and combining them to make one big day-long party.
Brewery co-founder, and former record store owner, Steve Himel says, “It’s not too often that
two of our favourite Days land on the same date, and in order to really wave the flag for RSD’s 10th anniversary we have a some really exciting things planned.”
Beginning at 10:00am on April 22nd, Henderson, along with Anansi Press and soon-to-be
neighbours The Drake Commissary, will be sponsoring a clean-up of the West Toronto
Railpath from Dundas to Davenport. Henderson will be offering shuttles to the North end of
the Railpath to make sure they get the path looking shiny for Earth Day. Participants will be
given a garbage bag on the way out and can redeem their filled bags at 11am for a
Henderson beer, Anansi coupons, and food prepared by the Drake Commissary. There will
also be prizes for those who bring in the fullest bags.
In the Brewery, Steve Himel, along with Brewery designer, Tony Halmos, will be spinning Record Store day releases from the past 10 years all day. Anyone can bring in their own RSD purchases and play Guest DJ as well! Henderson will also be giving away loads of RSD-related swag, sponsored by Arts & Crafts, and offering custom RSD Henderson & Viryl Technologies branded slip mats.
Viryl Technologies and Henderson Brewery have partnered to bring you two limited-edition
Record Store Day 2017 releases! Pressed on 180 gram white-coloured vinyl, these releases
will be distributed for free to the first 250 attendees to arrive between 1 – 5 PM. Both records
have been pressed at the Viryl Technologies HQ in the west-end of Toronto. The albums up for grabs are a live recording in NYC by daniel greaves, and a career-spanning compilation by Dave Rave.
In addition, the record pressing experts at Viryl Technologies will be running 15 minute
seminars throughout the day. Each session will educate enthusiasts on the vinyl care and the
Dead Dog Records will be bringing records to the brewery, and in turn, Henderson will be
sampling beer in-store at Dead Dog, located at 1209 Bloor street West from 2-4pm.
Then from 2-8pm, Playa Cabana will be hosting their weekly Pop-Up of tacos and tostadas in the brewery.
