Toronto, Ontario – Eastbound Brewing are releasing a couple popular brews this week at the brewery – Centennial APA is made with all Ontario grown hops, Backpacker Blonde Ale and the second installment of the Sam and Dave Series.
Centennial APA is the latest batch from the Fresh Start single hopped APA series will feature only Ontario grown Centennial hops from VQH Farms. It joins the roster of other Fresh Start variants: most recently Idaho 7. Simcoe, Summit, Cashmere, Azacca, Comet, Ekuanot, Amarillo, El Dorado & Nugget round out the other offerings.
Brewmaster Dave Lee was itching for the opportunity to use hops grown right here in Ontario. “Hops really reflect their growing conditions. They reflect terroir just like wine grapes do and we wanted to showcase that. VQH Farms is a local hop grower that’s making an impact in the brewing scene and from the beginnings of Eastbound I was looking for the opportunity to work with them. A single hop beer was the obvious choice to showcase what “Ontario grown” means for a popular hop like Centennial. We’re looking forward to working with more local hop varietals in the future to showcase what Ontario growers can do.”
Backpacker Blonde Ale also hit the retail shelves in 355mL cans at Eastbound this week and has quickly become a fan-favourite after being on draught and in crowler over the past few weeks. A flavourful, biscuity blonde with a nice crisp finish and a touch of sweetness from the addition of honey malt. Lee says, “Backpacker is a super flavourful blonde ale with tons of aroma. It’s a very approachable beer for the craft beer newcomer but it definitely appeals to the seasoned craft beer enthusiast as well. All of this adds up to the perfect pub pint.”
The second installment of the Sam and Dave Series (named for brewers Sam Corbeil and Dave Lee) is a reboot of last year’s Belgian Christmas Ale with just a few twists and again this year Eastbound and Sawdust are marking the release of the beer by hosting “Feastbound: Christmas Dinner with Sam and Dave” at Eastbound Brewing Company on Thursday Nov. 29th.
