Vankleek Hill, Ontario – Beau’s Brewing Co. is set to release a new Organic Grapefruit Radler this May; a lively, sweet-tart cocktail of beer blended with grapefruit juice. Rolling in at an extra-light 2.5 % ABV, Beau’s Grapefruit Radler is also the first-ever radler in Canada to be fully certified organic. Beau’s Organic Grapefruit Radler will be sold in 473 ml cans, at retailers across Ontario.
Beau’s Organic Grapefruit Radler pours hazy and straw-coloured, with wispy white foam. The aroma is citrusy and sweet with notes that are reminiscent of lemon meringue pie. The flavour delivers spritzy grapefruit with lemon inflections. It is light bodied, with a finish that is bright and crisp. It pairs superbly with soft, mild cheeses, and traditional brunch fare such as eggs benedict.
“Being well-known for our award-winning German-style lagered ale Lug Tread, we were inspired to try our hand at another German drink tradition, the radler,” says Beau’s co-founder and CEO Steve Beauchesne. “We set out to make one that was excellent, light and not too sweet-tasting. We’re excited about this release and are looking forward to having an extra-light beverage to offer. With all that said, I should also add that if you have sparking grapefruit juice on hand you can also make this yourself!”
Radler’s tradition of refreshment dates back to Germany in the 1920s, when an inventive innkeeper famously blended citrus soda with beer for a big group of thirsty cyclists. Save the date: Beau’s will toast this legend with a bike-themed celebration at the Vankleek Hill brewery for #RadlerDay on Saturday June 22.
