Toronto, Ontario – Ontario Craft Brewers®, the association representing small, independent craft brewers of Ontario, congratulates Bromlyn Mae Bethune, director of Sales & Marketing, Steam Whistle Brewing on her appointment to the Beer Store’s Board of Directors, representing the Beer Store’s small, Ontario-based brewery shareholders. Bethune replaces Frank Heaps of Steam Whistle who completed a one-year term with the board in March 2017.
“OCB is pleased to have such a qualified representative on The Beer Store Board of Directors,” said Garnet Pratt Siddall, president & CEO of Side Launch Brewing Company and chair of Ontario Craft Brewers. “Bromlyn’s brewing industry background and retail experience makes her an ideal voice to represent the interests of Ontario’s local, independent craft breweries.”
Said Bromlyn Bethune: “I am honoured with the opportunity to represent the Ontario Craft Brewers in a competitive channel and flourishing industry. It’s a very exciting time for Canadian craft brewers who continue to evolve, alongside a growing consumer demand for better, fresher, local craft beer.”
In September 2015, the government of Ontario announced a very welcome new framework agreement which included a comprehensive new governance model at the Beer Store, bringing it closer to its roots, where all brewers in Ontario benefitted equally from the system.
“Since then, we have seen a marked improvement in craft brewers’ access to the system and a willingness on the part of the board to work together on ideas for growth,” said Bethune.
“The director representing small, independent craft breweries in Ontario will ensure the local craft brewing industry has an active voice at the table, promoting choice and increased consumer access to premium, local craft beer throughout the province,” said Pratt Siddall.
