Blyth, Ontario – From humble beginnings, as a chalkboard idea in a temporary office in the former Blyth Public School in late 2015, an innovative solera-style beer was envisioned. Nearly four years later, Cowbell Brewing Co. is pleased to announce the release of Reunion 1st Solera Vintage.
Reunion is a solera-style blend of Cowbell’s first two Almanac Anniversary Beer releases, using 50% Almanac 2018 Barleywine and 50% Almanac 2019 Imperial Stout. The Imperial Stout dominates the blend showing dark chocolate, espresso, and a rich body. The Barleywine adds caramel and dried fruit character, with complexity and exciting depth.
“Reunion has truly been a team effort. From the early days, to the brewing, aging, and blending of the Almanac beers in our matte black fermenters, every Cowbell team member has had a hand in creating this innovative beer,” said Stephen Rich, Brewmaster. “Much like Almanac is a celebration of the year, Reunion is a toast to good times, friends, family, and hard work.”
Each year going forward, Reunion will evolve, adding new flavours to the blend and deep vintage to its character. Each Reunion Vintage will be 50% of the current Almanac Anniversary Beer, and 50% of all the previous years. Reunion can be enjoyed today or cellared for ten years or more.
Reunion first Solera Vintage will be available November 22, in 750mL and 1.5L bottles, for purchase at the Cowbell General Store, the Cowbell Online Store, or in the restaurant to accompany your meal while you dine at Cowbell Kitchen. Exclusively at Cowbell Brewing in Blyth, while quantities last.
